MINOR STUDIES


Minor studies are advanced courses on game development. The knowledge gained through minor studies is applicable throughout the IT industry. There are 5 courses in the minor studies program, each with a different field and course curriculum. Each course has a final exam.

The courses are:

  1. Windows operating system and virtual machines Students learn how to install and configure the Windows server operating system. They will also be able to administer and maintain the server environment.                                                                                                                                        

  2. Databases course teaches theoretical and practical aspects of MySQL databases. Students will learn how to set up a MySQL server, connecting to a remote MySQL server, modeling and building databases.                                                                                                                                                                

  3. Database maintenance course will provide strong theoretical and practical background in the database technology: designing databases, creating databases, faults tolerance and recovery of databases, setting up automatic backups, database user management, developing and basic maintenance of working databases.                                                                                                                                                      

  4. Server virtualization teaches students about cloud computing and services, the server virtualization products, how to plan a virtual environment, structuring and controlling a virtual server, network traffic, virtual infra access management, resource management and control.                                                          

  5. Programming will teach students to understand the significance of scripting languages in system administration. They will be able to program normal command scripts in the Windows and Linux environments.
